Kite Beaches page updated

Postby Loki » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:55 pm

Finally annoyed me enough that I did something about it. More map, no annoying sidebar or menus!

Funny that the HR sandbar isn't on there... i thought I origionally had it on there, maybe someone erased it.

With the stellar winds and zero crowds, we don't want that spot to be known. It got deleted. Now keep your voice down!

That sort of thing was a secondary reason for updating the page. I've had to constantly update locations that are getting moved (accidentally?) I just moved the BC ferry terminal from about 150 miles inland back to the coast. Now that the edit button isn't so accessible, maybe things will stay put.

Let me know if it doesn't get better, I can lock down the edit and have people submit beaches through me if its easier.

Is it possible to get the author of each beach section back on there? Makes it easier to determine if it is legit or not. haha.

Also, I think the Sauvies tag got moved. not sure, haven't been there, but I don't think it is over by Cle Elm.

Fixed Sauvies. The directions were horrible, so I fixed that too. It might take a day for the changes to be reflected because of the service I'm using, though.

I don't know how to get the author back unless I revert it to the old style map.

Jason, is there some way you can approve modifications to the map? One of the reasons I switched to the new way of displaying the map was because people were editing and moving stuff around frequently. From what I can tell, it was on accident, but markers got moved a ton. I had to constantly move stuff back to the right location.

Yeah, there's a very small link at the bottom:
"See something wrong or want to add a spot? Click here."

Add a location using the standard google maps custom maps feature.
