(FIXED) Bug: Google Voice sometimes appends junk

This message did not go through because it was too big due to the "sent using..." part of the message. Need to strip this out of incoming SMS messages. There's a limit to the number of characters that can be sent.

For example:

Date: Wed, 28 Apr 2010 22:50:35
From: (206) 218-xxxx
Message: Checking to see broadcast. This is just a test.--Sent using SMS-to-email. Reply to this email to text the sender back and save on SMS fees.https://www.google.com/voice

Text would have been:
wind@pskite.org / Report / (206) 218-xxxx says: Checking to see broadcast. This is just a test.--Sent using SMS-to-email. Reply to this email to text the sender back and save on SMS fees.https://www.google.com/voice

Which is 184 characters. I got the email, but not the text. T-Mobile must drop messages over 160 (?) characters.

yes, I got it back to me from the system. But it had all that junk in it for some reason.


It was me that sent it... all I sent was "Checking to see broadcast. This is just a test."

But it did look like this:

Seriously? You got that in a text message over tmobile? That blows. I can't receive long messages like that and I'm on tmobile. Iphones must suck or something.

Yep...got it all. If a SMS exceeds the length it accept, it will automatically break it into two SMS messages and send them back to back for me.

That one though was all in one. Android!!!!!

Mystery solved.

If you send an SMS that's long, it breaks it into 2 sms messages. If you receive one that's long it converts it to a MMS. Iphone doesn't support mms, so it gets dropped.

F'n iphone. What decade is this?

Oh. Oops. I also disabled text messages for my phone in the pswind database.
