Help us keep Kite Boarding alive in Juanita Bay, please!

Postby JuanitaBayGirl » Mon Mar 23, 2015 10:47 am

Please sign our petition! Many kite boarders have written in to Kirkland to let them know that the impacts of this private 'pier' will greatly impeded, if not prevent, kiteboarding from happening in Juanita Bay. As a 15 year resident of Juanita Bay, I can tell you that this will tip the scales of the fragile ecosystem we have in place here. Over the recent years, I have watched Juanita Bay develop in to a beautiful haven for paddle-boarders, kayakers, wildlife (heron, beavers, vast array of small birds, eagles, bats, otters & fish who all make their homes here!), dog people, and my favorite, the awesome kiteboarders who come during stormy days. Having an additional 22 boats and jet skis moored to a huge pier in one small shallow section of the bay will eliminate the peaceful waters near the shoreline that have allowed this beach to flourish and become a vital part of the community once again. Please support this petition if you have a second, and pass it along to others who value the bay! We would really appreciate the support of the Kiteboarding community to save the Bay! Thanks for your consideration. :-D

Jaimie - thanks for your efforts! The pskite community has been in touch with City of Kirkland against development of this pier. We have asked local kiteboarders to sign the petition and will support this effort any way we can. Please keep us posted and don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything specific we can do.
