Double Bluff and Jetty Island Wind Sensors

I am pleased to announce that we will have two wind sensors up and running. Jetty Island starting this spring and Double Bluff/Sunlight available now (more info below).

This is made possible with the funds raised in our last party raffle and by community members time & resources. The existing JI sensor will be overhauled and internet connections fees will be covered for at least 2 years. For DB, Steve a local kiter is sharing his sensor. We've added the necessary hardware to log and make data available to the cloud.

Double Bluff/Sunlight:
This sensor is halfway between DB and Sunlight Beach and it is placed 35 feet up. Thank you SteveB for supporting the community! We are working to get it on Windonthewater. In the meantime, you have a couple of options to check on current conditions.

WeatherLink Mobile (Davis Instruments) - Weather Station: PSKITEDB (Double Bluff-Whidbey Island, Freeland WA)
Wunderground - Weathers Station: KWAFREEL20 (Double Bluff / Sunlight Beach

Data in Weatherlink refreshes every 2 minutes and Wunderground every 15. Wunderground has the historical graphs.

Ben, it seems that the long term computer models on iKitesurf forecast for the Double Bluff spot are not accurate. Most likely the computer feed is from somewhere else. Example, this Sunday all other spots nearby have good wind and around 50F temp. This one shows upper 60F and not much wind. Could you look into that?

Ben - thanks for adding the sensors! Do you know when they will be available in either of the mobile Apps (Wind Map View?) WindAlert or iKitesurf?
