Today's tip is weather related, keep a eye on the radar for rain. Rain will cause very up and down wind readings and it's seldom good quality wind if there's rain associated. Watch for strong rain cells ( usually a strong burst of wind then it will likely shut off)and clearings ( changing condition)to help your decisions about going kiting! Have fun today!

Tomorrow Friday, se winds will prevail, so spots like locust, Iverson , marrowstone oak bay and db should be the spots. Only issue being high tide with an additional foot or two of tide from the barometric low could create difficult launching ,and safe exits if a rider would end up downwind. Stay up wind of the launches and know your safety systems, along with being very confident with a self rescue. Places like marrowstone or locust could easily see 6m wind, be prepared, and have fun!

Look at the satellite picture today. The center of the low is west of us and winds rotate counterclock wise. Hopefully it move further north and east as the day progresses , watch for indicators like destruction island and Smith island to turn more se , ESE is still too east, Lots of patience need today, Friday afternoon traffic is a whole other issue that comes to play! On the bright side of a slow storm, we could have an early day session tomorrow at sw spots.

TIP = Make friends with experienced kiters and listen to them.

I have learned so much from the guys I have met kiting - weather, tips, techniques, gear advice, etc.

This forum/Internet/YouTube is extremely valuable, but you can't learn everything on-line and you can't ask all the questions you need answered on the forum.

Luckily, most kiters are cool and enjoy talking about kiting - so it isn't hard to make friends with them and learn.

Today looks good for north sound locations such as double bluff, iverson, marrowstone and locust. tides will be high this afternoon and winds could ramp up late in the day. Strongest winds will likely come overnight and South sound and central sound should be good tomorrow, once the front with all it's rain pushes through.
Remember to keep an eyeout for changing wind and weather , last nights thunderstorm ended my session , glad i came in before the light show and monsoon rains hit , this happens alot in the tropics , but only occationally here!

And there's always the old classic rule of chasing wind , "don't leave wind to find more wind".

Thanks Stephen, Kip, Bob, IslandKiter, and the rest for the "tip of the day!" insights -- very helpful and a great incentive to check PSKite each day.
As much as it helps less experienced individuals learn and know more, it also helps the kiting community in general since newer/less-experienced kiters will be better prepared for inclement conditions and hopefully minimize mishaps that could/can occur.
Another reason why PSKite.org forum is so awesome !!

Since it's on again this morning at db , I'll pull out the ferry pass again. 20 trip { 10 roundtrips}tickets can be purchased . I usually buy one on the first good fall southerly , typically late sept/ early oct , my only complaint is I should have purchased the monthly pass this month.Having the pass makes it an easy decision to hit Db. Check the dbcabin cam and the mutiny bay sensor {useless bay sensor is Useless}before boarding the ferry. Get it early, looks like it fades midday.

Now, that our weather has turned and the fall southerlies are here, i always plan to get out of town to kite somewhere warm around the endof october/november time frame. Airfares are cheap and accomodations are abundant(cheap too), places such as Maui, South Padre, Hatteras(cooler temps though) Brazil(timeand more money) Baja is starting up too. justdo it before the holidaze rush sends costs to the moon. If you can , check a forecast somewhere and go!
