I've got a crack in the rail of a Naish Skater (bamboo). It lets water in, I've had it propped up with the crack at the lowest point for two weeks and now I need to get it properly fixed. As an added twist, the rail used to be silver painted, so not sure how well standard repairs will stick.

Who is the go-to these days? Denny moved to HI.

I should probably learn. Good advice, I'll order some epoxy tomorrow.

Bobby9 has taken my place of doing repairs now. I am sure he would love to do it.
If not, just look around on youtube. There's plenty of info on there.

Kody Kessler (local shaper) does a good job as well, he's repaired my Skater twice. Not that you can't do it or have B9 do it (I didn't know he was) Kody is just another option.

I just buy 5 min Epoxy from Ace have some fiberglass and a squeegee to smooth out the resin when wet, sand after 30 m and repeat. Put more than one layer of glass on your rails. 5 min epoxy is really easy to work with and not nearly as hard as you think, go ahead Wally you can do it.

I'm looking at buying a kit mostly so I can get the little bucket and sticks without buying them independently.

I know the board is not EPS/Styrofoam, but what is it, Polyurethane?

for little dings I've been just using 3m 5200 sealant. My logic is that I really just want to waterproof the ding where as a repair creates a stress concentration by having thicker material in one spot on a plane that is intended to have uniform flex.

Sealant may not be what the surfboard repair guys do but I checked it out with my Boeing material process engineer / girlfriend and she concurred that it was a good fix.

5200 will keep it water tight but it looks like crap and it Never goes away....We use it in the sailing world but only for things we need to cure underwater and never ever want to see or deal with again I buy from http://www.foamez.com they are cheap and Big swell Products work great... Much cheaper than Ding all etc.... Takes no time or a lot of time depending on how nice you want it to look.... Now sell me that WAM at a discount now that I know its dinged.... Ill fix it myself
