Well, even after working with this individual as a super volunteer for the Cabrinha Race Series, I had no idea that I had a PRO board shaper standing right next to me. Many of you know him as Alohabrother on this forum. This man has mad skillz! And with a trip to his man cave last night, it was apparent that he only aims for perfection! I consider myself very lucky to work with such a humble but incredibly tallented board shaper! Check it!

Uh oh! Looks like the Gator's got a new toy and is in the game now! Im hungry and ready for a piece of the competition! It's on now and this was just his first one out of the shaping room! Very impressive Denny! Wow!

Not enough cork for my taste though

The whole deck is vacuumed with 2mm cork!!
I covered it with 4oz, white paint and non skid. You'll just have to take my word for it!
However....the next ones might not have cork though. When I finally got my scale, I found that the 2mm cork is twice as heavy as the divinicell I use for my skins. I may keep the cork to a minimum on the real light weight raceboards. The cork is definitely in my glassing schedule for specific boards.... Love the dampening effect!

I vacuumed the bottom with 2oz x divinicell 2oz x polypropylene x 4oz on a 1 1/2 lbs. core. The top is vacuumed 2 oz x 2mm cork x foot patches x 4 oz. Add the numerous fricken ways I tried to get a final coating on the board....and viola......to heavy! I'm all about the non smelly stuff!
Next one I'm hoping to be around 14 lbs or lighter.

The last time repaired Adam's Zajicek's, it came in ~12.

IMHO 14 lbs is not special.
A high end Mike's Lab windsurfing race board came in at ~10 pounds. 10 pounds!!!

I rode my first 10 lb Mikes lab in 1998, it was Kevin Pritchards, I was at the Event site and was considering buying it.

It was DAMN lite and DAMN fast!

Considering windsurfers take more punishment and considering Mike has been building 10 pound boards for more the 15 years, it's very reasonable to expect to see his kite race boards come in that range once things REALLY heat up.
