DO WE WANT RACING HERE LOCALLY OR NOT?

Last year was the first year that I did not try and put together a Cabrinha Race Series. Are there enough folks around here that want to have another race series this year? Do we want this or could folks just do without it?

Personally I think it's a ton of fun and gets us all together. It's just hitting the right forecast that is always the challenge.

It is fun when it works. I like venues that are easy to get to for 2 reasons. 1. Quicker reaction time when conditions are good. 2. Less time commitment.

JI is a great location for having an event, but it is a PITA to access and can easily add a few hours of effort. With Mags/GG/RB/Edmonds/keek you can be in and out in no time, you can park your car close by and have ALL of your gear available. For those with more flexible schedules location is not as much of an issue, but for others like me it can be a deal breaker. To ensure max participation or at least enough participation, I think an accessible location is a must.


I may have to enter the kiteamaran class. A sure first place.

Racing is fun and the only reason I bother going out to Jetty... I'll be in Brazil all summer though, so I am out for the 2014 race season

Paul, I'm with you on that. We all know the deal with J.I. huh? PITA fo sho! But always a blast all but one that didn't blow. I'm sure it was because we had the North guys there... I just wanted to test the waters and see if there was a small contingency still wanting to kick this around locally. It appears honestly, to me, course racing demand here locally is pretty small. On the big racing scene today, it has really dwindled down to a very small fraternity of folks across the world. Coming up on the scenes at the Worlds and stuff, you have young and incredibly talented sailers that now have converted and are the rippa's. Other than the usuals that is...

I just love seeing all my friends and having a good time on the beach doing the sport we love. All good, I think unless a group of people step us and suggest that we get something going then I will just do my own little training gig and see you all on the water. Denny (Alohabrother) is shaping another beauty for me so I'm pretty stoked.


Nick, sounds coooool brutha! Nice work pulling that gig off and be sure to toss us a bone every once in a while.

Bummer we wont see you for the entire summer. Newt beer and the Gorge wont be the same without Sick.

why don't we just set a couple of race marks at Mags on one of the windy weekend days, super easy to do, no hassle and then one of us can carry a marine whistle for a 5 min start sequence
