Postby Owen.Duff » Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:34 pm

Hello! so im new to the kiteboarding scene in the PNW im living in spokane and i have kited a bit in florida so im somewhat familiar with some things but i could really use some "REAL" lessons... I learned to kite from some friends that really werent all that great and i dont know if the info that i was getting is what i need to know so If there is someone that can give me a couple lessons I would be wicked excited... im living in spokane but ill be in the tacoma/seattle/bellingham/everett area from the 12-15th so if your available that time frame, hook me up yo ill make it worth your while. I have all my own gear, 16m bularoo, wet suit, liquid force 161 board... so i should be able to ride in pretty light wind conditions... email me owen.m.duff@gmail.com or get ahold of me some how.
THANKS

Hi Owen! We teach at Jetty Island every day, wind permitting. We'd be happy to help you get out while you're in town. We have two PASA instructors on staff to take you out for a one-on-one personalized lesson. We can provide all the gear including wetsuit, harness, helmet and vest, kite and board. All our lessons are watercraft assisted. Give us a call and we'll put you on the schedule. Then all you have to do is your wind dance so that it'll be good while you're visiting!

Thanks,
Jason

Chill out man, you gave them less than a day to respond to a request for lessons two weeks out on what was probably the busiest weekend of the summer.

What's up with people in the NW? The wind was up my good man, and we were all out enjoying ourselves. So don't get so bent out of shape, this is supposed to be fun. :D

owen,
there are three schools that actively teach and participate on the pskite forum.
not sure really what the deal is but here are their websites.
the phone numbers are available as well as more information on what they do.

http://www.gokiting.com
http://www.urbansurf.com
http://www.bellinghamkiteboarding.com

all three are good schools. the first two teach up at jetty island in everett. this is our summertime beach.
the third school teaches up in the bellingham area.
You might want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
when weather is nice and the wind is blowing, it's a challenge for even myself to want to return phone calls and think about work.
good luck with the lessons and look forward to kiting with you on the water!

Yep

As soon as I have decided to go kiting I exhibit Helen Keller like functionality (before she discovered water as her first word) when it comes to anything work related. The ability to completely forget about work is one of the main reasons I enjoy kiting sooo much.

Hey Owen,

I think Zack has been in contact with you, but if not, please PM me and let me know, and we'll get you out tomorrow or tuesday.

Genereally I check the main forum daily, but I should check this forum more frequently as well..

Okay so after everything that went on with lessons and such I want to thank BHAM kites there was a major communication disruption between us and it all got worked out fantastically and they were really helpful. Jetty island sent me a couple emails about lessons but I ended up having some family problems back in spokane and ended up not being able to do the lessons. I want to get out there though the wind has been great on the eastern front all week and im totally bummed i cant get out there. happy kiting to everyone!
