Kite-surfer rescued near Golden Gardens

Postby Freeride » Wed Jul 25, 2012 6:44 am

From this morning in the Seattle Times: http://blogs.seattletimes.com/today/2012/07/water-rescue-underway-at-golden-gardens/

I stopped by down there yesterday but the wind seemed NE (offshore) and somewhat marginal for a 14. I heard from people sitting on the beach, that someone else had just been there, launched on the sandbar area of the point at low tide and was dragged barefoot across the barncle rocks and head first into one of the old pilings.

I'm pretty sure that blog post was paul ... but the barnacle and pilings guy was most likely not him.

They said he packed up and left, so it couldn't have been that bad. The story sounded terrible tough...I headed down there with the intent to ride (have never ridden GG yet) but forgot booties and realized you need them there, unless you launch at the swimming area but there were too many peeps.
