Kite Care Service from TKL

Postby The Kite Lesson » Thu Nov 05, 2015 4:13 pm

TKL is offering a new service to the Puget Sound Kiteboarding community.

What we're offering is a full service maintenance and inspection for your kiting equipment. Below is an itemized list of what the service would cover.

On completion of the service you will receive an itemized rating of your kite condition, photo's if any problems, and estimate for completing the work needed.

I've attached a sample “inspection form” to see what a report might look like. This service is in it's beta stage so I'm looking for feedback on what other items might be of value to a client having their kite serviced.

Some examples of where this service might be valuable are.

Purchasing or have purchased a used kite and want to have it checked out for peace of mind.
Selling a kite and want 3rd party verification of kites condition to include in your sales add.
Yearly maintenance. Don't have time or know how to do your yearly safety inspection yourself.
Going on vacation and want to avoid unforeseen breakdowns

The Kite Care Maintenance Check List

Full Wash and Dry
12 Hour Air Test
Inspect all seams for thread and seam wear
Inspect one pump system, hoses and connections
Inspect inflate and deflate valves
Inspect bridle, pulleys, and leader lines
Full inspection of canopy for damage
Bar tune and line inspection
Loaded Quick Release test
Pump tune up! Oil cylinder and re-seat ends if needed
Kiteboard Tune up, tighten fin and strap screws

!please offer feed back on this beta service! We'd like to know your opinions on a product like this and what else you'd like to see added to the service. Also the ever important pricing, what's it worth?

Thanks in advance!

Great idea Matt! Well thought out, evaluation report is professional and adds value. I can see kiters using this service, but of course depending on what it costs. Do you have pricing determined yet for the service?

Price is to be determined. I was thinking $65-$75 to start. Service will take 3 solid hours to complete so this is still on the very low side of an hourly rate. If it gains popularity I'd raise the price from there. Looking for suggestions though.

That is a good deal at that price point IMHO, but a good idea to have some flex in pricing. It would be interesting to see what others think about the "value proposition". Looks good to me! Hope it takes off for you Matt and thank you for adding options to our community for kite care.
