2014 Naish Skater 5'4" Review

A fast board that likes to cut through chop and light enough that boosting is a joy. Even though near 19 wide it would be a small board to learn to gibe on, but the reward is a shredding free ride board. Of course it was sold as a dedicated strapless, the flat rocker gives it snappy pop. I enjoy the flat rocker for the increased wind range. I ride my 15m through 6m on this board, love it for flat water cruising to psycho Puget sound chop. The low volume means this board doesn't "carry" or "surf" as well on Puget swell as say a larger surf board. My other board is a airush sector for light wind days, a great quiver. Naish Slater VS Ocean Rodeo Mako 165; I rode Mako's 150 & 165 prior to this board, love the Mako's! I had started to prefer the 165 due to better surf and smaller kite demand, the skater is like a lighter, faster, more alive Mako King.

Here is a video from Feb 2015 riding Puget Sound

Skater 5'2" 2015 report: this board is the sickest kiteboard ever. Somehow Naish has worked some pop into a directional. Total last second control for shoving backside airs, plus crazy float and controllability airing frontside. Somehow the Skater allows you to time your strapless landings better, and it lands so softly, no slap. That, and I-beam rails makes me think this board will be harder to break than other kite surfboards. I hit a submerged piling and some floating debris today super hard with no damage.
