***The JETTY ISLAND LIGHT WIND OLYMPICS *** – June 23-25th
Who will take home the first “KING OF THE LIGHTWIND 2017” title at Jetty Island?
I'm excited to announce that we are making it happen!!! The FIRST EVER Jetty Island Freestyle, Big Air, A B Race and JI Foil Race!!! Thanks @Jason Sperling for putting together this promotional video and getting everyone stoked!!!
We have received approval from the Port of Everett for the event, worked with the City Parks Department, and Fire Department and secured @WooSports as our main sponsor of the event. Thanks to the support of Jeffro’s Kitboarding School @UrbanSurf we also have the required insurance.
Here are some basics while we still try to work out some details. This is the first time we hold such an event so things might not be as smooth the first time around. Any help is appreciated.
***What***: Freestyle, Big Air, A B Race, and Jetty Island Foil Race, including Industry Demos on Sat June 24th Male and Female categories
***When***: Wind dependent but window is Friday June 23rd – Sunday June 25th, exact times still TBD, Rider’s meeting likely at 3:30 p.m. each day
***Where***: Jetty Island Kiteboarding Zone
***Who***: Anyone and everyone who wants to participate and or watch
***Entry Fee***: $20 to participate in any or all events
***Prizes***: Title “King of Lightwind” (Freestyle / Big Air / Foil / A B Race), swag, other TBD pending sponsors
***After Party***: TBD, but likely at the Jetty Island dock, fine brews provided by PSKITE
***Transport***: You will need your own transport to Jetty Island since the public ferry doesn’t run yet. Most of us have transport, but if you don’t post on the forum or ask a friend to give you a lift. We may be able to provide a shuttle service if we have a volunteer with a boat.
***Volunteers***: We still need some volunteers for Shuttle to / from JI, Boat Support for foil race, Emergency Medical Personnel (calling all nurses, doctors, EMTs), Woo volunteers to help download session stats, additional Photographers (thanks @Dmitry for being our Director of Photography”, other roles. Ping Philipp for details and I will connect you to the right people to coordinate with
***Volunteer Meeting***: still TBD, but we’ll likely meet the night before the event to discuss any FAQs and logistics
What is still needed: PA SYSTEM, Generator, Air Horn, Flags, Walkie Talkies, other? – if you can provide any of that, please send a message to Philipp.
