Home brew race board V2 - Cork Racer

Postby Sick Nick » Tue Apr 24, 2012 7:18 pm

I'm finally making some progress on my 2nd generation home brew race board. Still needs a bottom hotcoat and a fancy paint job...but I'm tempted to take it for a ride as is:

She's a cool 70cm wide with a dense/waterproof XPS core and a solid glass job. All wrapped in delicious cork for a lightweight solution for traction and ding durability. 3 big fins.

It was about the same as the Aguera CR 69 last time I weighed it, but I forget the number. Also about the same weight as my first board that was only 56cm wide

Will weigh it again for you after the final hotcoat/sanding and any paint additions.

I went with a pretty light and tight glass job compared to my last race board, which survived last summer without a ding.

Very cool. Very curious to hear how the cork performs as non-skid... Keep us posted with your sea trials!

Haven't ridden this board, but cork has worked excellently on other boards I've tested it on. No need for wax or pads.
